Serdang, 19 December – The Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) celebrated its Golden Jubilee, commemorating 50 years of establishment, in recognition of the faculty’s rich history, significant contributions and outstanding achievements in producing high-impact graduates while advancing academic and research excellence.

The prestigious celebration was graced by the presence of distinguished guests, including YBhg. Dato’ Professor Emeritus Dr. Ir. Muhamad Zohadie Bardaie, Pro-Chancellor of Universiti Putra Malaysia; YBhg. Professor Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Ibrahim Komoo, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Universiti Putra Malaysia; and YAB Dato’ Seri Ir. Dr. Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, Menteri Besar of Terengganu, accompanied by YABhg. Toh Puan Seri Tuan Faizah Tuan Ab. Rahman.

Also in attendance were YBhg. Professor Ir. Dr. Abd Rahim Abu Talib, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), representing the Vice-Chancellor of UPM, as well as YBhg. Professor Ir. Dr. Mohd Zainal Abidin Ab Kadir, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, UPM.

The celebration further reflected strong alumni support with the presence of Mr Fahmi Azar Mistar, Director of the UPM Alumni Relations Centre, and Mr Mohd Norashedy Ab Rashid, President of the UPM Alumni Association.
A highlight of the event was the Symbolic Launch of the Faculty of Engineering Alumni Chapter. The Certificate of Establishment of the Faculty of Engineering Alumni Chapter was formally presented by Mr Fahmi Azar Mistar to the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, witnessed by the Pro-Chancellor and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor. The launch marks a significant milestone in strengthening alumni networks and fostering closer collaboration between the faculty, alumni and industry partners.


As a gesture of continued alumni support, the UPM Alumni Relations Centre contributed RM5,000.00 in sponsorship towards the Golden Jubilee celebration. As of the evening of the event, the total amount collected for the Faculty of Engineering Golden Jubilee Fund reached RM51,894.00, aimed at supporting the faculty’s ongoing efforts to sustain excellence and uphold the university’s legacy.
In conclusion, the Golden Jubilee Celebration of the Faculty of Engineering, UPM not only honoured five decades of remarkable achievements but also reaffirmed the collective commitment of the faculty, university and alumni to nurturing future-ready, competitive and high-impact graduates for national and global development.
