Serdang, 31 January 2026 – The Meeting of the Malaysian Public Universities Alumni Council (MALUMNI) was successfully held at the Engineers’ Boardroom, Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), with the participation of Directors and Alumni Liaison Officers from Public University Alumni Centres nationwide.

The meeting and workshop were chaired by YBhg. Associate Professor Datuk Dr. Sabri Mohamad Sharif, Chairman of the Malaysian Public Universities Alumni Council (MALUMNI). The session aimed to strengthen coordination and strategic collaboration among public university alumni centres in enhancing the role of alumni as key strategic partners in the development of higher education institutions.

The primary focus of the meeting and workshop was to further refine MALUMNI’s strategic plan to ensure that the proposed initiatives can be implemented effectively and achieve the objectives set. Discussions centred on implementation strategies, monitoring mechanisms and the measurement of outcomes to enhance the overall impact of MALUMNI’s programmes.

Through the workshop sessions, participants engaged in constructive discussions, shared best practices and proposed improvements to existing strategies, particularly in areas related to alumni engagement, network development and the empowerment of alumni contributions to universities and the wider community.

Overall, the MALUMNI meeting and workshop served as an important platform in strengthening the national strategic direction of public university alumni initiatives. The programme reflects MALUMNI’s continued commitment to maximising the potential of alumni as catalysts for university excellence and contributors to sustainable national higher education development.
