Kuala Lumpur, 12 December – The Universiti Putra Malaysia Alumni Relations Centre (ARCUPM) recently held a strategic discussion with Yayasan DayaDiri and the Yu Cai Foundation at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) to explore potential collaborations on scholarship opportunities for Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) students.

The discussion focused on developing more inclusive scholarship pathways, particularly for students from the Orang Asli community, to ensure equitable access to education and prevent marginalisation within the higher education landscape.
The scholarship framework and inclusive mechanisms were presented by Dato’ Shamsuddin Mohd Mahayidin, Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication, together with Dr. Muhammad Mu’az Mahmud, Deputy Director of ARCUPM. Their presentation emphasised sustainable and student-centred scholarship models designed to support long-term academic development and personal growth.
The key objectives of this initiative include empowering Orang Asli students within the agricultural sector, aligned with UPM’s core strengths, bridging educational inequality through access to education, and establishing sustainable industry partnerships to enhance graduate employability and future career prospects.

This engagement reflects the strong commitment of ARCUPM and its strategic partners to expanding access to quality education and ensuring fair opportunities for students from all backgrounds.
In conclusion, education is a fundamental right and a powerful catalyst for social transformation. Through collaborative efforts such as this, UPM aspires to ensure that no community—particularly the Orang Asli—is left behind in pursuing academic excellence and a brighter, more inclusive future.
