FROM ALUMNI UPM TO ALUMNI UPM

The New Student Registration Week for the 2025/2026 Session at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) was not merely the beginning of an academic journey for new students, but also a meaningful moment that highlighted the continuity of knowledge and legacy across generations.

The phenomenon of “From Alumni to Alumni” has become increasingly evident as more parents who once pursued their studies on the Serdang campus now return—not as students, but as mothers and fathers accompanying their children as they take their first steps at the same university.

Among the heartwarming stories that captured attention during the opening of the Alumni Relations Centre (ARCUPM) booth on registration day was the presence of an alumnus of the Bachelor of Physical Education, Class of 2005, who is also an alumnus of the Master of Physical Education, Class of 2018. He returned to campus not merely to relive memories, but to accompany his eldest child, who is now pursuing the Bachelor of Physical Education programme—just as he once did.

“I feel deeply moved to be able to step onto the campus that shaped me, and now to see my own child about to go through the same journey. It feels like history repeating itself, but with a deeper meaning,” he shared when met at the UPM alumni booth.

This story illustrates how the relationship between alumni and the university does not end after graduation, but continues to flourish across generations. It stands as proof that UPM is not merely a place to acquire knowledge, but also a space that shapes identity and creates lasting memories. The registration atmosphere also saw many alumni accompanying their children, reflecting their pride and affection for their alma mater. For the university, this phenomenon represents UPM’s success in producing graduates who are not only excellent, but who also maintain a strong bond with the university long after leaving the lecture halls.

The “From Alumni to Alumni” narrative has become a symbol of closeness and the continuity of the unique Putra legacy—a journey of knowledge that began at UPM and is now being carried forward by a new generation destined to shape the future of this beloved university.
