EKSA GOTONG-ROYONG, NEW SPACE FOR NEW IDEAS TO COME

A positive working environment does not simply happen on its own but rather built through teamwork, commitment, and shared responsibility. Guided by this spirit, the Alumni Relations Centre Universiti Putra Malaysia (ARCUPM) successfully organised an EKSA (Ekosistem Kondusif Sektor Awam) gotong-royong activity involving all staff members, including interns, in an effort to create a more organised, comfortable, and inspiring workplace.

The programme began at 9.00 a.m. with a short coordination meeting to ensure that every task and preparation could be carried out smoothly. Over the course of two days, staff members worked hand in hand to clean, reorganise, and refresh various office spaces in line with EKSA practices. From rearranging workstations and sorting documents to cleaning shared spaces and improving the overall office setup, every individual contributed towards creating a better environment for everyone.

Beyond the physical transformation of the office, the activity also carried a deeper meaning. The gotong-royong became a platform for strengthening teamwork and encouraging stronger connections among colleagues. In the midst of busy schedules and daily responsibilities, the programme provided an opportunity for staff members to work together outside their usual routines, fostering better communication, cooperation, and understanding within the team.

The refreshed workspace now reflects more than just cleanliness and organisation — it represents a renewed energy within the office. A comfortable and conducive environment often inspires clearer thinking, fresh perspectives, and greater motivation in carrying out daily tasks. Through small but meaningful efforts like this, ARCUPM continues to cultivate a workplace culture that values collaboration, positivity, and continuous improvement.

The success of the programme proves that when everyone works together with a common purpose, even simple initiatives can create a meaningful impact. More importantly, it serves as a reminder that a better space can lead to better ideas, stronger teamwork, and a more productive future for the organisation.
