SERDANG, March 25 – A spiritual ceremony to celebrate and bless the 50-year Golden Jubilee Celebration of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) held in the UPM Mosque at 7 pm. UPM Bermunajat is a programme organised by the University Islamic Centre and conducted following standard operating procedures outlined by the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS).
The event attended by an honorary guest, Prof. Dato' Dr Zulkifli Idrus, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Research and Innovation, Prof. Dr Arifin Abdu, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Students and Alumni Affairs, Tuan Haji Mat Razi Abdullah, director of the Islamic Centre and Assoc. Prof. Dr Arba'ie Sujud, director of the Alumni Relation Centre. The event also attended by university officers and students.
Zulkifli Idrus said in his speech that this year was a challenging year for the residence of Universiti Putra Malaysia to celebrate the 50-year celebration due to the Covid-19 pandemic. "The university is very much appreciated efforts that have been given and thanked all UPM staff who have worked together to ensure that UPM continues to excel and stand firm to this day", he added.
In conjunction with the UPM Prayer ceremony, Zulkifli invited the attendees to jointly indulge prayers to Allah SWT to facilitate matters and pray for the excellence and blessings of this higher institution.
The ceremony began after the congregational Maghrib prayer and followed by a congregational wish prayer. Ustaz Norisyam Nordin led the recitation of Yassin and prayers before the event ended.
