BANDAR BARU ENSTEK, 15 August 2026 – The KOMPAS Module Presentation Workshop continued with two high-impact sessions, namely Slot 2: Hard Talk Forum – Issues, Challenges and the Future of Alumni at Malaysian Public Universities and Slot 3: Capstone Project Briefing.
Slot 2 provided an open and in-depth platform to discuss the current realities, challenges and future direction of alumni management at Malaysian Public Universities (UA). The forum brought together senior university leaders to share their insights, experiences and perspectives on strengthening alumni management and networks.
The forum featured YBhg. Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd Shafry Mohd Rahim, Vice-Chancellor, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM); YBhg. Datuk Associate Professor Dr. Sabri Mohamad Sharif, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student and Alumni Affairs), Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM); and YBhg. Prof. Dr. Juliana Johari, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Industry, Community & Alumni), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). The session was moderated by Ts. Dr. Mohd Khairil Anbia Chi Adam from UTeM.
The discussion highlighted various issues and challenges in alumni management while exploring appropriate approaches and strategies to ensure that alumni networks remain relevant and continue to create meaningful impact for universities, alumni and society.
The programme then continued with Slot 3: Capstone Project Briefing, which provided participants with an overview of the implementation framework and assessment guidelines to ensure that the programme’s objectives could be translated into practical and impactful projects.
The briefing was delivered by Dr. Omar Firdaus Mohd Said, Director of the Alumni Centre, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), who also serves as a Rubric Development Expert.
Both sessions provided participants with opportunities to expand their knowledge, exchange experiences and develop a more comprehensive perspective on the future of alumni management within their respective institutions.
The KOMPAS workshop is expected to serve as a catalyst for more proactive, competitive and sustainable alumni management, further strengthening the role of UPM alumni and Malaysian Public Universities in supporting institutional, student and community development.
