Serdang – Ramadan is a blessed month and it is celebrated by muslim communities around the world. Iftar Mega was held annually to distribute free iftar meals to UPM students.

In the third year of organising Iftar Mega Putra 3.0, Menu Siswa Rahmah was also launched and was organised by the Student Affairs Division in collaboration with the Student Affairs and Alumni entities and UPM Student Representative Council. This programme was also supported by UPM International Student Association (UPMISA), Sahabat Masjid UPM and UPM Serdang residential colleges.

Iftar Mega Putra 3.0 has gathered 2000 students from different beliefs. The distributions were also shared with the non-muslim students.

Objectively, this programme was to build unity. Although Ramadan was celebrated among the muslim, but Islam has never forbade the ties with other religions.

10 distribution stalls participated by Alumni Relations Centre, Student Affairs Division, Centre for Management of Waqf, Zakat and Endowment, and residential colleges. Various meals were distributed such as Arabic rice, chicken rice, Malaysian desserts, and beverages.

This programme has received support from the university management and was also attended by UPM Vice-Chancellor, Dato’ Prof. Dr Mohd Roslan Sulaiman, proved that this was a high impact programme that need to be continued in the future.

Alumni Relations Centre wishes great gratitude to UPM alumni who have contributed for this programme. May the cooperation continues.
