SERDANG, 3 JUNE – The Program Menggamit Kenangan Alumni Reunion (MEKAR) Ke-35: Golden Jubilee of UPM Class of 1976 Alumni was successfully held at Menara Putra Warisan Budi, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Serdang, bringing together approximately 20 alumni from the Class of 1976 in a meaningful reunion filled with nostalgia and appreciation for their alma mater.

Organised by the Pusat Perhubungan Alumni Universiti Putra Malaysia (ARCUPM), the event was made even more special as it was held in conjunction with the Bulan Sinergi Putra UPM 2026, which celebrates the strong bond between the university and its alumni community. The programme reflected the aspiration of “Alumni UPM Berilmu dan Berbakti” by strengthening lifelong connections among graduates while highlighting UPM’s continuous growth and achievements.

Throughout the visit, the alumni participated in a series of nostalgic tours around the campus, revisiting several iconic locations that played significant roles during their student years. The journey began at Menara Putra Warisan Budi, a symbol of UPM’s heritage, identity, and aspirations. The alumni expressed their pride and admiration in witnessing the university’s remarkable transformation from an agriculture-focused institution into a globally recognised research university.

The programme continued with a visit to KMR OnePutra Residence, where the delegation was warmly welcomed by Nadiatul Hasmiera Binti Hashim and Azzul Qaiyum Bin Zamri from UPM International. The session provided insights into the residence’s facilities and its role in supporting students’ academic and personal development. For many alumni, the visit rekindled cherished memories of friendships, leadership experiences, and campus life.

The group also visited Ladang 10 UPM, where Encik Saiful Anuar A. Rahman, Senior Agriculture Officer, shared valuable information on the stingless bee honey industry and the history of UPM. The visit highlighted the university’s enduring excellence in agriculture, research, and innovation.

The final stop was Hospital Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah (HSAAS), where the alumni were welcomed by Encik Muhammad Arief Hakimi Sudin and Puan Maryam Ahmad Nainy. Through an informative briefing, the alumni learned about the hospital’s development and its contributions to healthcare, education, and research.

Overall, the Golden Jubilee reunion was a great success, allowing the Class of 1976 alumni to reconnect with one another, relive treasured memories, and witness the remarkable progress of Universiti Putra Malaysia in serving society through education, research, innovation, and healthcare.
