Anugerah Endowmen Sultan Idris Shah

Tabung Endowmen Sultan Idris Shah (TESIS) was established to raise funds initially through the sale of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) special series vehicle registration plates, and later strengthened with fundraising programmes by the Pusat Perhubungan Alumni (ARCUPM) in conjunction with UPM’s 50th Anniversary Celebration. The main purpose of TESIS is to create an endowment fund for scholarships to support students in need, ensuring financial sustainability as the principal fund remains untouched while only dividends from long-term investments are utilized. In the Jawatankuasa Pengurusan Universiti (JPU) meeting on 31 May 2023, Minute JPU 873.03(c), the Terms of Reference (ToR) for TESIS was endorsed, with Yayasan Pak Rashid (YPR) serving as the reference model. In the same meeting, JPU also approved ARCUPM’s proposal to award an academic prize at the UPM Convocation, namely the Pingat Emas Sultan Idris Shah sponsored by Farm Fresh Berhad, similar to the Pingat Emas YPR. To date, the Pusat Perhubungan Alumni (PPA) has established two university academic awards: the Pingat Emas Sultan Idris Shah, now known as the Anugerah Sultan Idris Shah sponsored by TESIS, and the Pingat Emas Sultan Idris Shah, now known as the Hadiah Sekuriti Makanan Farm Fresh sponsored by Farm Fresh Berhad.
