UPM Alumni: Our Ambassadors Around the World

Maafushi, Maldives, 23 November – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), through the Adimastuli Cultural Dance Club, was honoured with an invitation from the High Commission of Malaysia to Sri Lanka and the Maldives to perform a cultural showcase in conjunction with the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 programme. This invitation aligns with the vision of “UPM Alumni as Ambassadors Around the World”, reinforcing the university’s presence on the global stage.

The cultural showcase, held in Maafushi, Maldives, was graced by His Excellency Badli Hisham Adam, the Malaysian High Commissioner, together with leaders from the Maldives. Through the performance, UPM successfully highlighted Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage while strengthening cultural diplomacy between the two nations.

During the visit, UPM representatives also had the opportunity to meet Mr. Tham Whye Long, a distinguished UPM alumnus who currently serves as the First Secretary / Head of Chancery at the High Commission of Malaysia to Sri Lanka & the Maldives. He is a 2009 graduate of the Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology programme and a proud alumnus of Second College, UPM.

In conclusion, UPM’s participation in this international engagement showcases the impactful role of its alumni in representing Malaysia worldwide. Their dedication and achievements continue to inspire new generations, in line with UPM’s enduring philosophy of Berilmu Berbakti.
