Serdang, 16 January 2026 – The spirit of giving back continues to shine among Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) alumni through the “Free Petrol” programme, organised by Dr. Gadget Malaysia, En. Asraf Mustaqim Amran, a UPM alumni from the Class of 2015. The initiative, held at the PETRONAS UPM station in Serdang, aims to ease the burden on the local community while promoting social responsibility and community solidarity.
The event, which began at 9.00 a.m., saw strong participation from students, alumni, and several UPM staff alumni who also took advantage of the free petrol service. Their presence highlighted the robust support of the UPM community for alumni-led initiatives that directly benefit society.

In addition to free petrol, Dr. Gadget UPM also offered professional and efficient repair services for mobile phones and laptops, making the programme not only materially helpful but also practically supportive of the community’s technical and digital needs. The initiative showcases the creativity and expertise of alumni in giving back, reinforcing the image of alumni as responsible and productive contributors to society.
The UPM Alumni Relations Centre (ARCUPM) acted as a supporting partner for the programme, recognising and promoting alumni efforts in giving back meaningfully. ARCUPM hopes that more alumni will follow this example, contributing to society, strengthening alumni networks, and fostering a culture of care and social responsibility.
The “Free Petrol” programme served not only as a means of providing direct assistance but also as an inspiration to the wider UPM community and local residents, demonstrating how acts of kindness and generosity can have a lasting impact.
