Serdang, 17 December 2025 – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) continues to strengthen its commitment to safeguarding student welfare through the implementation of the Dapur Madani Alumni @ KOSASS Initiative, a high-impact programme resulting from a strategic collaboration between the UPM Alumni Relations Centre (ARCUPM), the UPM Alumni Association, and Kolej Sultan Alaeddin Suleiman Shah (KOSASS).

This noble initiative goes beyond the provision of material assistance, serving as a meaningful expression of care, solidarity and compassion from alumni towards their alma mater and the student community. The programme focuses on ensuring food security and supporting students in need, particularly in facing current cost-of-living challenges.

Through this initiative, a contribution amounting to RM10,000 from Yayasan PEKEMA was channelled through the UPM Alumni Association for the provision of essential food supplies sourced from Faiza Sdn. Bhd. The contribution aims to support the continuous operation of the Dapur Madani at KOSASS, ensuring students have consistent access to basic food necessities.

The initiative was further strengthened by a contribution of ready-to-eat meals valued at RM20,000 from Chapter Yosh in collaboration with MyFundAction. This strategic partnership ensures that students not only receive raw food ingredients but also have convenient access to nutritious, ready-prepared meals, supporting both their physical well-being and daily needs.

The symbolic handover ceremony, held at the UPM Alumni Relations Centre, was attended by key sponsors and strategic partners. Among those present were Yang Mulia Raja Petra Maruddin Raja Nordin, Vice President of Yayasan PEKEMA; Mr Suhaimi, Board Member of Yayasan PEKEMA; Mr Mohd Hafiz Abdul Rashid, Customs & Logistics Liaison Officer of Yayasan PEKEMA; Mr Faaizul Aswad, Administration & Operations Manager of Yayasan PEKEMA; Mr Norashedy Ab Rashid, President of the UPM Alumni Association; and Mr Shahruddin Mahadi, Deputy President of the UPM Alumni Association.

Also in attendance were Dr Salwa Abu Bakar, Director of Faiza Sdn. Bhd.; Dr Mohd Hadi Akbar Basri, Principal of Kolej Sultan Alaeddin Suleiman Shah (KOSASS); Mr Fahmi Azar Mistar, Director of the UPM Alumni Relations Centre; and Mr Mohd Asyraff Yusuf, representative of Chapter Yosh in collaboration with MyFundAction.

The programme was further enlivened by a “Meet & Greets” session with UPM alumni, aimed at strengthening bonds and fostering closer engagement between alumni and students, while nurturing a strong sense of belonging within the university community.

In conclusion, the Dapur Madani Alumni @ KOSASS Initiative demonstrates how strong synergy between the university, alumni and strategic partners can generate a meaningful and sustainable impact on student welfare. This collaborative effort not only alleviates students’ burdens but also instills values of social responsibility, compassion and community support. It is hoped that similar initiatives will continue to be expanded in the future to ensure the long-term well-being and sustainability of Universiti Putra Malaysia’s student community.
