SEED4OURFUTUREE ENCOURAGES COMMUNITY TO PLANT TREES

SERDANG, March 10 – Efforts in encouraging communities to plant trees is pursued by the young generation through the Seed4OurFuture programme. This programme is a video challenge activity of planting seeds of trees creatively. It can be participated by the residence of Universiti Putra Malaysia and the public.

Today, the Seed4OurFuture programme officiates by Assoc. Prof. Dr Ahmad Shukri Muhammad Noor, Principal of Thirteenth College on 9:00 pm virtually on the Facebook of Thirteenth College and Facebook Malaysian Food Sovereignty Forum.

 

During the opening ceremony, programme director Muhammad Aqil Naim Othman said the programme aims to spread awareness among the community about the importance of planting trees. Meanwhile, the Coordinator of the Malaysian Food Sovereignty Forum, Encik Nurfitri Amir Muhammad added that this programme is an early celebration of International Seed Day celebrated on April 26  annually.

"Farmers and we as Malaysians are free to plant, store and share the seeds obtained," he added. Meanwhile, Ahmad Shukri hopes that this programme is not the last kind. Hopefully, the programme can spread interest in tree planting activities as well as love for plants.

The Seed4OurFuture program runs from March 10 to  April 25 2021 online. Participants who wish to participate can visit Thirteenth College Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/kolej13upm for further information. Participants are required to record their tree planting process via video or photograph. Then, send the video to the secretariat before the due date.
