Cameron Highlands, 23 December  – The Universiti Putra Malaysia Alumni Relations Centre (ARCUPM), in collaboration with Taman Agro Al-Mashoor, owned by UPM alumnus Dato’ Syed Abd Rahman Syed Abd Rashid (Class of 1970), recently organised a casual agricultural learning visit for ARCUPM staff and their family members at his strawberry farm.

During the visit, participants had the opportunity to engage in a brief sharing session on modern agricultural practices, with a particular focus on strawberry fertigation techniques. This initiative reflects the dedication of UPM alumni actively involved in the agricultural industry, supporting UPM’s vision to address national food security.

The session, simple yet meaningful, was attended by Mr Fahmi Azar Mistar, Director of ARCUPM; Dr Muhammad Mu’az Mahmud, Deputy Director of ARCUPM; as well as staff and their families, many of whom expressed excitement at experiencing first-hand visits to the strawberry farm.

In addition to strawberry cultivation, Dato’ Syed Abd Rahman shared his experiences in growing strawberries and tomatoes in Cameron Highlands. Participants also hiked a short distance to the tomato cultivation area, where they learned about planting techniques and the different types of tomatoes grown. Children had the special opportunity to pick strawberries themselves, adding an educational and enjoyable element to the visit.

The Alumni Relations Centre UPM extends its sincere appreciation to Dato’ Syed Abd Rahman for generously sharing his time, knowledge, and experiences with ARCUPM staff. The visit successfully highlighted the achievements of UPM alumni in agricultural entrepreneurship. ARCUPM, together with the UPM Alumni Association, hopes that all UPM alumni will continue to achieve excellence and success in their respective fields.
