GERIK, 9 August 2026 – The Huffaz Club of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), in collaboration with MyFundAction, Yosh Club of Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP), Surau Al Mizan Putrajaya, and the University Community Transformation Centre (UCTC), UPM, successfully organised the Putra Outreach Programme: Huffaz Social Engagement 2026 at Tasik Banding, Gerik, Perak, from 7 to 9 August 2026.

The programme was one of the initiatives aimed at expanding student engagement through community service activities while strengthening character development, leadership skills and the spirit of volunteerism among participants.

Based on the concept of experiential learning, the programme brought together students from UPM, Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP), and several other higher education institutions to gain a deeper understanding of the realities faced by the Orang Asli communities around Tasik Banding.

Throughout the programme, participants had the opportunity to carry out various community-based activities, engage directly with local residents and gain first-hand insight into the challenges faced by the Orang Asli community. This experience helped enhance students’ social awareness, empathy and sense of responsibility towards society.

Through the synergy between higher education institutions, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and local communities, the programme not only supported the Service Learning agenda and the development of holistic graduates but also contributed directly to efforts aimed at improving the quality of life of the Orang Asli communities in the Tasik Banding area.

Programmes such as this are expected to continue in the future to strengthen university-community relationships and provide lasting benefits to society while offering meaningful learning experiences for students.

The Putra Outreach Programme: Huffaz Social Engagement 2026 demonstrated that university students can play a significant role as agents of change in contributing to community development and the social well-being of the nation.
