Serdang, 21 October – The UPM Alumni Relations Centre (ARCUPM), in collaboration with the Sultan Abdul Samad Library (PSAS), had the honour of conducting an oral history interview session with Haji Ghazali Selamat, a UPM alumnus from the Class of 1970 and a former student of the late Pak Rashid, a highly respected educator in the history of Universiti Putra Malaysia.

The session, held in a warm and nostalgic atmosphere, served as a heartfelt reflection on the invaluable contributions and legacy of Pak Rashid in shaping students’ character and advancing education in UPM.

During the interview, Haji Ghazali emphasized the importance of personal values and respect for teachers, noting that the blessings of knowledge come through the blessings of one’s mentors. He shared that this principle, instilled by Pak Rashid, has been the foundation for nurturing knowledgeable and virtuous individuals dedicated to serving others.

Interestingly, Haji Ghazali also expressed his aspiration to publish a book dedicated to the personality and virtues of Pak Rashid, with the hope that UPM staff and students will be inspired by his humility, sincerity, and lifelong dedication to education.

This session was more than a recollection of memories — it represented a continued effort to revive the enduring “With Knowledge We Serve” spirit, which has long been the heartbeat of Universiti Putra Malaysia’s identity.
