Serdang, 2 October 2025 – An Oral History Interview on the late Pak Rashid was conducted to record the life journey and contributions of the esteemed education figure. The session was held in collaboration with the Archives and Media Team of the Sultan Abdul Samad Library (PSAS), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) as part of ongoing efforts to preserve the legacy of prominent figures in Malaysian educational history.

The interview featured Pak Rashid’s son, Tuan Haji Hassan bin Mohd Rashid, and his wife, Hajah Jamilah binti Muhammad Saleh, who shared heartfelt stories and reflections about the late educator’s dedication and lifelong passion for teaching.

According to Tuan Haji Hassan, his father strongly believed that education was the key to empowering the Malay community. His commitment extended beyond the classroom. He was known to personally visit his former students in their hometowns to encourage them to pursue higher education.He described his father as a humble and noble-hearted man, admired by many for his sincerity and respect toward everyone, regardless of background or status.

Tuan Haji Hassan expressed hope that this oral history project will serve as a valuable record and inspiration for the younger generation, particularly among UPM students. He emphasized that the progress and prestige of UPM today stand upon the foundations laid by pioneers like Pak Rashid, whose sacrifices and vision helped shape the institution.

In conclusion, this oral history initiative reflects a meaningful tribute to a remarkable educator whose spirit and dedication continue to inspire the academic community and strengthen the legacy of Malaysian education.
