Serdang, 28 November – The Convocation Festival and Agriculture Expo 2025 (PESKON 2025) officially commenced with an opening ceremony officiated by the Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), YBhg. Dato’ Prof. Ir. Dr. Ahmad Farhan Mohd Sadullah. The ceremony took place at the PESKON 2025 grounds located at Dataran Menara Putra Warisan Budi, the new venue that marks a significant milestone for this year’s edition.

The event was enlivened by an energetic opening performance from the 24 Seasons Drum Club under the Secretariat of Culture and Arts, Kolej Sultan Alaeddin Suleiman Shah (KOSASS), UPM. The vibrant performance set an uplifting tone for the festival, celebrating cultural diversity and the spirit of the campus community.

This year’s PESKON carries a special significance as it is the first edition to be held at the newly completed Dataran Menara Putra Warisan Budi. The iconic location now stands as a symbolic homecoming point for alumni returning to UPM’s green campus in conjunction with the 49th UPM Convocation Ceremony.

The opening ceremony was also attended by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), YBhg. Prof. Dr. Arifin Abdu; Director of the UPM Alumni Relations Centre, Encik Fahmi Azar Mistar; President of the UPM Alumni Association, Encik Norashedy Ab Rashid; as well as UPM officers, staff members and students who gathered to celebrate the launch of PESKON 2025.

Running from 28 November to 5 December 2025, PESKON 2025 features a variety of activities, exhibitions and sales booths expected to further enhance the festive atmosphere of this year’s convocation celebration. In his officiating speech, the Vice-Chancellor expressed his highest appreciation to the UPM Student Representative Council (MPP) for leading the organisation of PESKON 2025, and extended his gratitude to strategic partners and sponsors who contributed to the success of the programme.

The opening ceremony also featured a symbolic tree-planting gimmick, highlighting UPM’s commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

The festival’s success is further strengthened by contributions from multiple sponsors, including the UPM Alumni Relations Centre, which played a significant role in financial support and coordination efforts. Their involvement has helped bring together alumni—particularly parents of graduating students—to participate and enliven the convocation festivities.
