News and Article Writing Workshop Added Value to UPM Staff

SERDANG, 14 July 2021 – News and Articles Writing Workshop was held on 14 July 2021. The workshop organised by the Student Affairs Division, was conducted by Mohammad Nazry Hisyam, Head of Corporate Communication and Event Management Section, Centre for Corporate Strategy and Relations (PSPK), UPM.  The workshop which was conducted online was attended by 61 staff from UPM and support staff of each department (PTJ) in UPM.

According to Nuruliman Ibn Ibrahim, Head of Student Affairs Division, in his welcoming speech, the workshop was aimed to polish writing skills of each participant especially in enhancing the visibility of their respective entities through website and social media which in turn boosted the visibility of the university.

"The reality is that all PTJs have a lot of news value in each of their respective organizational activities, but it will have less impact if the writings are not disseminated in an attractive style. Today's work environment requires creativity in presenting each activity for public attention" he added.

In this workshop various relevant and significant inputs were shared by Nazry Hisyam which covered the types of news, news categories, news angles, key components of news and many more.

 

Meanwhile, one of workshop participant, Bukryman Sabri, said the workshop was very good. He is the Leader of Sahabat Masjid UPM, also suggested that the organizers expand their participation among university students to enhance their knowledge, skills and competencies as part of their soft skills.
