Langkawi, 26 October – The 4th Malaysian Public Universities Alumni Council (MALUMNI) Meeting and MALUMNI Workshop were successfully held from 23 to 26 October 2025 at Hotel Adya Express, Pantai Chenang, Langkawi, Kedah.

The meeting and workshop were chaired by Associate Professor Datuk Dr. Sabri Mohamad Sharif, Chairman of the Malaysian Public Universities Alumni Council (MALUMNI). Also present were Professor Dr. Ahmad Martadha Mohamed, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni) of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), together with Directors and liaison officers from alumni centres of various public universities across Malaysia.

The main focus of this session was to refine and strengthen the MALUMNI Strategic Plan 2025–2027, ensuring that the proposed framework could be implemented effectively and aligned with the collective objectives of public universities.

The UPM Alumni Relations Centre (ARCUPM) also participated by presenting a Policy Paper on Alumni Governance, in addition to conducting a video recording session with all alumni directors from public universities. The footage will be used as part of the Leadership and Strategic Alumni Management Competency Programme (KOMPAS).

Over the course of four days, the meeting not only served as a platform for strategic discussions and idea sharing but also fostered closer collaboration among public universities in strengthening alumni networks nationwide.

Overall, the meeting and workshop demonstrated the continuous commitment of Malaysia’s public universities in enhancing effective governance and sustainable alumni engagement. Through the MALUMNI platform, it is hoped that all universities will continue to work hand in hand in building a strong, impactful, and resilient alumni ecosystem that contributes meaningfully to the advancement of higher education in Malaysia.
