SERDANG, 23 September – UPM Alumni Association (PAUPM) has held a forum with the title Members’ Aspirations to UPM Alumni Association at Rashdan Baba Auditorium, UPM for the Annual General Meeting (AGM).

The forum is attended by the members of PAUPM and the panel lineup consists of 3 alumni figures from the 70s, 80s and 90s. Those figures are the Advisor of PAUPM, Tuan Haji Ghazali Salamat (Alumni Class 1970); Chairman of UPM Holdings Sdn Bhd, Prof. Dato’ Mohd Fauzi Hj. Mohd Ramlan (Alumni Class 1981) and Director of Linemax Media Sdn Bhd, Mr. Shahrudin Mahadi (Alumni Class 1992) and is also joined by Vice President of PAUPM, Dato Syed Abd Rahman Syed Abd Rashid as the moderator. Also present as guests of honor are President of PAUPM, Dato’ Raihan Sharif and Manager of PAUPM, Tuan Haji Wan Ali.

Among the issues that have become the focus of the discussion during the forum are ways to inspire the members in making sure the association is actively contributing back to UPM. Another matter discussed is the lack of young alumni joining the association. Dato Syed Abd Rahman Syed Abd Rashid has said, “Alumni are encouraged to contribute back to the university. By joining the association, we are able to make sure this effort can be successful. Hence, we have to find a way to attract young alumni to join the association.” This statement is agreed by the attendees who have been very vocal with their own opinion during the Q&A session.

The discussions and debates between the three panel members and the attendees highlighted the theme of the forum which revolved around the aspirations of the members to the association. The enthusiasm shown by the members of the association is a good reflection of the issues discussed.

The forum ends around 11 AM and continues with AGM to vote and appoint the new committee members for the 2023 to 2025 session.

ARCUPM as a liaison entity between alumni and alma mater always supports the efforts made by the PAUPM in an endeavor to jointly bring alumni back to the alma mater as well as contribute back to the university.
