Serdang, October 9 – The “An Hour with UPM Alumni” programme, held in conjunction with Minggu Perkasa Putra (MPP) 2025, brought together more than 3,600 new students at UPM’s Dewan Besar for an inspiring session featuring distinguished UPM alumni who shared their experiences and insights.

The session was moderated by Mr. Mat Amin Jaafar, Managing Director of Amco Niaga Sdn. Bhd. and Secretary-General of the UPM Alumni Association, who is also a proud alumnus of UPM (Class of 1994 & 2022).

The event featured a lineup of successful alumni including YBhg. Dato’ Zainani Jusoh (Accountant General of Malaysia, Class of 1991), YBhg. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Firdaus (Education and Cultural Attaché, Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, Class of 2006), YBrs. Dr. Salwa Abu Bakar (Senior General Manager, Syarikat Faiza Sdn. Bhd., Class of 1983 & 1988), and YBrs. Mr. Hafiz Abdul Rashid (Managing Director, RJH Consultant & Services Sdn. Bhd., Class of 2000).

Also in attendance were Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), YBhg. Prof. Dr. Arifin Abdu, and Director of the UPM Alumni Relations Centre (ARCUPM), Mr. Fahmi Azar Mistar, who commended the alumni for their continued support and contributions to UPM.

During the dialogue, the alumni encouraged new students to remain connected with their alma mater and give back in any possible way — not limited to financial means, but also through time, expertise, and service. Their stories of perseverance and gratitude served as powerful motivation for the audience.

In conclusion, the “An Hour with UPM Alumni” programme successfully fostered unity, inspiration, and pride among new students, reinforcing the value of lifelong connection between alumni and Universiti Putra Malaysia.
