BANTING – Alumni Relations Centre continues its tradition to support the orphans and asnaf through Tautan Mahabbah 2022 programme. Tautan Mahabbah is an annually programme organised by Alumni Relations Centre and this year is its sixth time the programme has been conducted.

This programme is to demonstrate Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) solidarity and care towards the community in need especially the orphans and asnaf.

Rumah Amal Raudhatul Jannah is located at Banting, Selangor, occupies 28 residents of 16 males and 12 females aged between 8 to 17 years old. They are the orphans and asnaf from all over Malaysia, taking shelter at Rumah Anak-Anak Yatim dan Asnaf Raudhatul Jannah.

Among the guests attended the programme were Alumni Relations Centre UPM (ARCUPM) Director, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arba’ie Sujud, Rumah Amal Anak-Anak Yatim dan Asnaf Raudhatul Jannah founder, Haji Zawalajam Haji Mashod, officers and staff of ARCUPM.

According to ARCUPM Director, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arba’ie Sujud, Tautan Mahabbah is a continuous programme. Previously, the programme was conducted at an orphanage centre at Bangi.

"If before the country is hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, we will invite these children to UPM and hopefully in the future, the tradition can be revived. On this occasion, I would like to express my deepest appreciation and gratitude to the contributors especially to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hamisah Hassan, alumni class 1998 who is the leading individual contributor with a total contribution of up to RM10,000. I bid my warmest gratitude to Beras Faiza, MyFundAction, alumni, and UPM staff as well. Your donation is well received by the children at Rumah Amal Raudhatul Jannah.

Among the contributed items were hygiene kits, COVID-19 self-test kits, daily essentials as well as Eid contribution. These contributions will surely light up their Ramadan and upcoming Eid.

“Interestingly, we also provide health kit as a sign of UPM solidarity towards the endemic phase as well as supporting a healthy and safe lifestyle. The contributions essentially lessen the charity house’s operation on a daily basis. UPM involvement in social responsibility will strengthen the linkage between higher education institution and its local community.

He added, Tautan Mahabbah will be proceeded with Mawaddah Ramadan where it focuses to UPM students. Iftar distribution and Eid contributions will be channelled to the B40 students and asnaf. The output of these programmes were to balance UPM duty towards the local community and students.

In addition, through Tautan Mahabbah and Mawaddah Ramadan, UPM Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Roslan Sulaiman in his Vice Chancellor Narrative 2022, to lead university mission for the community and to engage alumni for university sustainability aspirations are to be accomplished through these programmes.
