
SERDANG, 30th December – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) recently witnessed a historic moment through the 48th UPM Convocation Ceremony held at the Main Hall, Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Cultural and Arts Centre (PKKSSAAS), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). The Chancellor of UPM, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, graciously officiated the 48th UPM Convocation on the first day.
Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah expressed his displeasure with the proposal by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM), Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, to revert the name of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) back to Universiti Pertanian Malaysia.

This meaningful event celebrated more than 6,000 graduates from various fields of study, including undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral (PhD) degrees, marking their success in completing their studies at this prestigious institution of higher learning.
The ceremony began with a procession of graduates in academic robes, followed by the official speech by UPM's Vice Chancellor, YBhg. Dato' Professor Dr. Ahmad Farhan Mohd Sadullah. In his speech, YBhg. Dato' Professor Dr. Ahmad Farhan extended his congratulations to the graduates for their achievements and reminded them of the great responsibility now placed in their hands as future leaders. He also emphasized the importance of integrity, leadership, and innovation in facing global challenges.
