Serdang, 26 Oktober - Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), through the UPM Alumni Relations Centre (ARCUPM) and the UPM Alumni Association, organized the 12th edition of the Sirih Pulang Ke Gagang@Homecoming Charity Dinner 2024, held at the Dewan Besar, Pusat Kebudayaan dan Kesenian Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah (PKKSSAAS), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).

The Chancellor of UPM, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, graciously officiated the 12th Sirih Pulang Ke Gagang@Homecoming Charity Dinner 2024.

This biennial event has become a tradition for UPM, successfully gathering nearly 500 alumni from across the country. Their presence symbolizes a "return" to their alma mater to continue contributing their services and dedication.

For this 12th edition, six awards were presented to alumni selected by the award selection committee based on their contributions and service to the alumni community.

The six categories were: the Anugerah Mutiara Alumni (main award with one recipient), Anugerah Perkasa Alumni (2 recipients), Anugerah Bakti Alumni (4 recipients), Anugerah Jasa Alumni (2 recipients), Anugerah Apresiasi Alumni (15 recipients), and the Anugerah Khas Alumni Antarabangsa (1 recipient, a new award introduced this year).

The main objectives of this event are to raise funds for the Alumni Contribution Fund to support UPM students through scholarships, grants, and financial aid; to provide a reunion platform for UPM alumni to participate in university programs aimed at strengthening and empowering the relationship between alumni and their alma mater; and to support the Student and Alumni Affairs Strategic Plan (HEPA) in providing the best learning and life experience for students through alumni contributions to academic teaching and university infrastructure development.

This program is also seen as an excellent platform to ignite the spirit of "Berilmu Berbakti" (Knowledge for Service) among the UPM community to actively engage with the university in its programs and activities.
