Serdang, February 7th - Alumni of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) expressed concern about the welfare of students therefore they started an initiative called PUTRA CAKNA Alumni Care: Heart to Heart (H2H) to provide laptops to students in need. The surplus donation collection session held symbolized the conclusion of this campaign.

Starting from August 2021, the distribution of laptop devices was carried out in stages based on cumulative donations that alumni have made from time to time through the campaign and execution of MEKAR programs, donations by Serdang Angel Alumni, and Yayasan Kebajikan Suria. The main goal for the campaign was to lessen the burden for students who are in need, for example, students from B40 class families that need laptop devices and data plans for them during teaching and learning sessions (PdP) by focusing on alumni chapters who are willing to sponsor laptops and data plans, and implementing donation collections through the UPM PayGate “PUTRA CAKNA Alumni Care: Heart to Heart (H2H) program”.

Other campaign objectives are to preserve education as a platform for individuals to give back to their alma mater. The H2H campaign also intends to help and facilitate students focusing on learning while increasing public awareness, especially among UPM fellows to pursue knowledge and serve UPM. In line with UPM's motto, "Berilmu Berbakti" (With Knowledge We Serve).

The donation handover session, which was cumulatively a total of RM25,578.00, was given to 10 recipients including orphans, B40 class families, and students who had their laptops stolen. The final application was open to students from 1st until 15th November 2023 and received responses from 567 applicants before undergoing a screening process to select students who truly qualify for this assistance.

This brief ceremony of acceptance assistance has been carried out for the recipients. Also present to deliver a message and hopes to the aid recipients was Mr. Fahmi Azar Mistar, Deputy Director of the UPM Alumni Relations Center (ARCUPM). As a conclusion to the project, this session brings the total number of laptop recipients from the H2H campaign to 41 individuals.

The concern shown and contributions made by UPM alumni are something to be emulated by students, especially UPM students, to always appreciate and remember the university's services even after becoming alumni, in line with "From Alumni to UPM".
