SERDANG – UPM 44th Convocation Ceremony has witnessed graduates happy faces upon receiving their diplomas and degrees respectively. After almost two years the convocation ceremony was put on halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however, in 2022 with strict SOP imposed the ceremony was able to be carried out and run smoothly. 

Although the festivities were not like they used to be, it is remarkably special celebrating the graduates’ joy upon completing their studies.

For Nur Adlin Norazam, a Diploma in Fisheries graduate and Amco Niaga Sdn Bhd Scholarship recipient said she was truly grateful to Amco Niaga who has sponsored her studies for four years at UPM.

“I came from a moderate family. I am the second of four children. My siblings are still in school. When I was accepted to be the recipient of the Amco Niaga Scholarship, it was a tremendous relief for me and my family."

The dependent of the family is my mother. She runs an eatery small business. Therefore, when I was given this scholarship, I saw my future is getting brighter. My mother and I do not have to worry about my tuition fees and expenses throughout my stay on campus. My mother may focus on the needs of my siblings who are still in school. 

My advice to all alumni scholarship recipients, as students we need to know our responsibilities and the trust given. Many have applied but we were among the chosen ones, therefore upholding the sponsor's reputation is our responsibility. All that needs to be done is to study hard until we succeed and one day we will return and give back to our alma mater. The noble effort in empowering UPM alumni will not end here,” she concluded. 

Adlin is currently pursuing her studies in Bachelor of Human Development Science at UPM Serdang.
