SERDANG - The Eid aidilfitri Ceremony hosted by the Alumni Relations Center drew enthusiastic UPM residents and alumni. The Covid-19 pandemic prevented Eid al-Fitr celebrations for two years, but in 2022 things got back to normal and the bonds between students, UPM employees, and alumni were strengthened.

The celebration gained even more significance when Mr. Ravichandran Tharumalingam, a former employee of UPM who brought the UPM Mission to the Top of the world@Everest, attended. Ravichandran took advantage of the chance to talk about his experiences, difficulties, and triumphs while conquering Everest three times.

The challenge this time proved to be different as he carried the aspirations of the entire UPM community to see the cherished UPM flag burning at the highest mountain in the globe. The quest was accomplished on May 12, 2022, when he successfully reclaimed the highest mountain as a result of his diligent effort and fervent prayers.

Once in Malaysia, he was determined to challenge himself once more to reach the top, despite the many hardships and sacrifices that had to be undertaken. He asserted that success requires more than just having a dream; it also requires hard work, discipline, seriousness, and unquestionably the support of those around you.

At the ceremony, Ravichandran handed back the UPM flag which was waved at the top of Everest to YH. Prof. Dato' Dr. Roslan Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor of UPM. Congratulations and appreciation to Ravichandran Tharumalingam.
