Kuala Lumpur, 11 Oktober - Program Mekar Siri 21: Alumni Chapter Indonesia 2024 continued with the International Seminar on "Food Security in Indonesia and Malaysia," held at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Kuala Lumpur. This seminar was organized by the Alumni Chapter Indonesia 2024 of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), in collaboration with the UPM Alumni Relations Centre (ARCUPM) and supported by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, Kuala Lumpur.
Led by Prof. Dr. Imas Sukaesih Sitanggang, the seminar successfully attracted the participation of over 40 alumni, along with several of their family members. The event also received support from the Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), YBhg. Dato' Prof. Dr. Ahmad Farhan Mohd Sadullah, as well as the Education Officer of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Kuala Lumpur, Prof. Muhammad Firdaus, who is also an UPM alumnis.
This International Seminar was moderated by Dr. Ir. Muhrizal Sarwani (BSIP Sumber Daya Lahan Pertanian, Bogor) with three invited panelists: H. Arief Prasetyo Adi (Head of the National Food Agency of Indonesia), Prof. Dr. Normaz Wana binti Ismail (School of Business and Economics, UPM), and Mr. Muhammad Faris bin Ariffin (General Manager of NAFAS Malaysia).
The seminar focused on three main topics: Food Security in Indonesia: Opportunities and Challenges, Food Security in Malaysia: Opportunities and Challenges, and The Role of the Malaysian Farmers' Organization Authority in Food Security. It is hoped that this seminar will broaden our understanding of the opportunities and challenges in achieving food security in both Indonesia and Malaysia.
