Serdang, July 13th - An alumni talk that profoundly touched the hearts of the alumni was delivered by University Board Member (LPU), Encik Mohamad Sabrie Mohamad Salleh (Alumni Class of 2009).

The Alumni Talk, titled “Young Generation Alumni: Are We Losing Them?”, was held on July 13, 2024, in conjunction with the UPM Alumni Association’s 2024 Annual General Meeting at the Rashdan Baba Auditorium, TNCPI Building, UPM.

In the effort to reconnect alumni with their alma mater, many factors need to be considered, including the presence and willingness of young alumni to contribute to strengthening the university's agenda. During the talk, Encik Sabrie Salleh emphasized the need for clearer efforts and approaches targeted towards young alumni, ensuring they feel needed in the university’s development.

The UPM Alumni Association (PAUPM), supported by the UPM Alumni Relations Center, must continue to act as a catalyst for young alumni involvement. There is a need to realign the structure of movements to be more in tune with current trends. The emphasis on digitization and AI is crucial so that young alumni feel their 'spirit' is valued in the university’s global progress.

Furthermore, the engagement between future alumni (students) and current alumni must be strengthened, so that future alumni see role models and exemplary figures to follow in their pursuit of success. Similarly, alumni should be introduced to future alumni through various activities and programs, creating a two-way relationship that will benefit both groups.

A deep sense of commitment to alumni development is essential. There must be a strong sense of belonging instilled in both alumni and future alumni, fostering a heartfelt connection and loyalty to the beloved university.

Alumni Relations Center UPM (ARCUPM), now led by Associate Professor Dr. Aqlima Ahmad and Dr. Mokrish Md. Ajat, warmly welcomes the involvement of alumni in enhancing UPM's excellence agenda.
