Serdang, 30 November 2025 – The Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Convocation Festival 2025 continued in high spirits with the 2025 Inter-College Creative Ethnic Dance Competition, an event that showcased the rich cultural diversity, creativity, and dance talents of UPM students on one vibrant stage. The programme was organised by the UPM Sabah Students’ Association (PERMASA PUTRA) for the 2025/2026 session, in collaboration with the UPM Students’ Representative Council (2024/2025 session), the Student Affairs Division (BHEP), and the Badansa Dance Troupe.
The competition, held on 30 November 2025, brought together student dance troupes from various residential colleges, each presenting performances inspired by ethnic dance traditions infused with creative and contemporary elements. Every team highlighted their unique cultural identity through choreography, costumes, music, and staging reflecting the multicultural heritage of Malaysia, particularly from Sabah and Sarawak.
The stage became a lively platform where UPM students expressed innovation through tradition, resulting in captivating and colourful performances that received enthusiastic support from the audience, which comprised students, lecturers, alumni, and visitors of the Convocation Festival.
Beyond being a showcase of artistic talent, the competition aimed to promote cultural appreciation and foster unity among students by celebrating diverse ethnic traditions. The initiative also reflects UPM’s continuous efforts to enrich the student experience through the arts, strengthen cultural understanding, and cultivate holistic student development.
With the success of this year’s event, the 2025 Inter-College Creative Ethnic Dance Competition once again demonstrated how cultural arts can serve as a powerful medium of unity, further enhancing the festive atmosphere of the UPM Convocation Festival 2025.
