SERDANG – Alumni Relations Centre Universiti Putra Malaysia has once again organised Program Menggamit Seribu Kenangan : Alumni Reunion (MEKAR) Series 4.0 at Executive Lounge, Vice-Chancellor Office.

This programme is to celebrate the establishment of Alumni Chapter Sastera dan Budaya officiated by Prof. Dr. Mohd Roslan Sulaiman, UPM Vice-Chancellor accompanied by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arba’ie Sujud, Director of Alumni Relations Centre UPM.

Three students from the Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication (FBMK) were chosen as the recipients of devices contributed by Alumni Chapter Sastera dan Budaya. The students are Amysha Aziza Abd Aziz (Year 2, Semester 3), Badrul Anas Sabri and Wan Ahmad Amiruladha Wan Mahzir (Year 3, Semester 5) from Bachelor of Arts Malay Literature respectively.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arba’ie Sujud, this chapter was established in the spirit of contributing to students in need especially students from FBMK. This contribution managed to aid students who are unable to get their own devices and with this contribution will boost student’s spirit for excellence.

“22.02.2022 was a historical date as it marked the contribution made by Alumni Chapter Sastera dan Budaya to Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) through the device contributions for the selected students. The contribution manifested that Alumni Chapter Sastera dan Budaya has been in line with the call from the tower of knowledge “Sederap Melangkah Menuju al-Falah”, echoed by UPM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Roslan Sulaiman.

This effort is to enable activities related to literature and culture to be preserved as part of knowledge discipline in UPM and one of the efforts progressed was the device contributions by literature and culture alumni. This is the first move, and we will not stop here, but we will move forward to ensure our efforts fulfil university’s aspirations.

In the next framework is to publish Wira Putra book as part of the chapter’s contribution towards university. This is in line with the upcoming project, UPM@Everest Mission. One of the contents of this book is a poem which will be written by the National Laureate, UPM alumni Datuk Dr. Zurinah Hassan.

In addition, we will bring about Bicara Putra Gemilang, a song written by Dermawijaya fills with trust that must be taken as responsibility by UPM community.

To the device recipients, this is a trust and responsibility as one day you will give back to alma mater in sustaining university’s excellence.” he said in his speech.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nik Rafidah Nik Muhamad Affendi and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Roslina Abu Bakar, the contributors, also attended the ceremony.
