SERDANG, 16-17 April 2018 – Yayasan Pak Rashid UPM in collaboration with Alumni Centre has successfully organised Workshop on Basal Stem Rot (BSR) of Oil Palm with objectives to create awareness on current development and status of Basal Stem Rot disease of oil palm, to provide a platform for participants to share and exchange ideas on detection and management of BSR and to promote development of multidisciplinary knowledge in the management of Basal Stem Rot. The two-day workshop was officiated by YBhg. Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Mohd Noor Ismail, Board of Trustees Yayasan Pak Rashid UPM.
There were four speaker has been invited to be a speaker for this workshop as below:
1. Dr. Nusaibah Syed Ali, Jabatan Perlindungan Tumbuhan, Fakulti Pertanian, UPM
"Title: Potential of Trichoderma harzianum and Bacillus cereus for biocontrol of basal stem rot of oil palm caused by Ganoderma boninense"
2. Prof. Dr. Mohamed Hanafi Musa, Jabatan Pengurusan Tanah, Fakulti Pertanian, UPM
"Title: Plant Nutrients and Ganoderma Control in Oil Palm"
3. Dr. Idris Abu Seman, Head of Ganoderma and Disease Research for Oil Palm Unit, Malaysia Palm Oil Board (MPOB)
"Title: R&D on Biology, Detection and Management of Ganoderma Disease in Oil Palm"
4. Dr. Ahmad Radhzlan Rosli, Head of Plant Pathology Unit, Crop Protection Department Plant Health Division, FGV Research & Development Sdn. Bhd.
"Title: Field Management of Ganoderma in Inland Areas"
About 50 participants were present for the workshop from palm oil companies such as PT. Sawit Sumbermas Sarana Indonesia, IOI Plantation Sdn. Bhd., FELDA, PPB Oil Palms Berhad, Achi Jaya Planttaion Sdn. Bhd., and others. The workshop also conducted a field visit at the Sime Darby Plantations, Pulau Carey, Selangor.
