The Covid-19 pandemic unexpectedly swept across the world and changed the normality of life. No exception, the field of face-to-face education is shifting direction into the world of online and virtual education. With the change in the country's education landscape, UPM Alumni Relations Centre (ARCUPM) in collaboration with the Student Affairs Division (BHEP), the Centre for Waqf, Zakat and Endowment Management (WAZAN), UPM Bursar Office and UPM Alumni Association (PAUPM collaborated to implement a welfare project to assist UPM students in the B40 category to continue teaching and learning sessions (PdP) during the pandemic season. The Device Assistance and Data Plan project was implemented for a month from February to March 2021 through the 1 Alumni 1 Ringgit Contribution (1A1SR) campaign which is used as an aid fund for students in need.

A total of five (5) students were selected to receive the aid in total amounting to RM14,400.00. The impact of this project will certainly attract the interest and desire of the alumni to continue contributing to the 1A1SR fund to help the students of UPM to avoid dropping out of their online learning.

This one-off incentive assistance has also provided ease for UPM students to maintain their academic excellence.  Indirectly, this project also shows the seriousness of the alumni who are aware and concerned about the situation of the students in UPM. Hopefully, this contribution will benefit the students of UPM and the continued blessings to those who have contributed to the well-being of those in need.
