DESARU – Beginning from 25 to 27 February 2022, Tracing Alumni for Collaboration and Engagement (TRACE) Bridges – Link District (TAD)@ Southeast Johor was held. A meetup session with alumni from the said location was conducted at Desaru Tiara.
The meeting was to create bonding and as an effort to bring back alumni to alma mater. Alumni are stakeholder to the university and through their role as alumni various programmes and networking are broaden in bringing the university soaring towards excellence.
Alumni functions and roles should be optimised in contributing to the university and student development. UPM is among the universities with high alumni volume around 116,605 alumni nationwide.
Throughout the three nights stay at Desaru, several discussions with alumni were conducted to empower the aid for the unprivileged UPM students and alumni too.
During a sharing session with alumni, several ideas was presented including to provide support and relief for the less fortunate UPM alumni, called Alumni Flagship.
ARCUPM as the entity in connecting alumni with alma mater, alumni with alumni, and alumni with students gave full support on the ideas and opinions given.
The director of ARCUPM also joined in the sharing session and supports the ideas.
“This provided platform is a medium to help the unfortunate alumni. Apart from aiding the unprivileged students, we also can focus on providing relief to the alumni in need,” he said.
At the meeting, alumni are encouraged to sign up for the Alumni Information System portal. Various activities and programmes involving alumni will be updated from time to time. The portal also disseminates information for alumni to contribute especially in the form of a scholarship and device contribution. To sign up, click on this link https://ais.upm.edu.my/portal
The slogan “Daripada Alumni kepada UPM” has a deep meaning. At the programme, Jaringan Industri dan Geran Alumni section led by Fudhayl Omar has successfully acquired devices relief for B40 and asnaf students. 10 devices have been contributed by James Ho from Yayasan Kebajikan Suria. For this contribution, Alumni Relations Centre extends its gratitude and the 11th aspiration in the Vice-Chancellor’s Narrative 2022, to engage alumni for university sustainability is accomplished.
