Serdang, October 12 – A total of 4,500 local fruit trees were planted by new UPM students during the Minggu Perkasa Putra for the 2024/2025 session. This initiative is part of UPM's ongoing efforts to reduce carbon footprints and promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Prof. Dr. Arifin Abdu, emphasized the importance of students recognizing that trees are the foundation of life. He also highlighted the crucial role trees play in safeguarding the environment, as well as the long-term benefits of tree planting for future generations.
The tree planting activity saw new students planting a variety of local fruit trees, including rambutan anak sekolah, nam dok mai mango, chok anan, mangosteen, soursop, water apple, and honey lime.
