The UPM Alumni Relations Center (ARCUPM) has organized another alumni gathering with the High Commissioner of Maldives to Malaysia, Her Excellency Dr. Mariyam Shabeena Ahmed (UPM Alumni 2023). She previously served in the senior management of her country, the Maldives Food and Drug Authority.

Her appointment letter as the High Commissioner of Maldives to Malaysia was presented by President Mohamed Muizzu, stating that her appointment as the High Commissioner of Maldives to Malaysia could strengthen the friendship between Maldives and Malaysia and also expand consular services to better serve the Maldivian community in Malaysia.

In the gathering led by ARCUPM Director, Associate Professor Dr. Aqlima Ahmad, discussions also focused on the development of studies for UPM students and the Maldivian community in Malaysia. As a UPM alumnus and former student of Associate Professor Dr. Aqlima, Her Excellency Dr. Mariyam welcomed the aspirations brought forward and looked ahead to realizing each plan related to studies and education, as well as her contributions as a UPM alumnus.

Additionally, the director took the opportunity to present about the 12th Sirih Pulang ke Gagang@Homecoming Dinner 2024 and hoped it would be widely promoted to other UPM alumni.

The brief yet meaningful meeting will surely take another step forward in continuing UPM's legacy of excellence with UPM alumni worldwide. The strengthening of the International Chapter will also be considered.

ARCUPM extends its highest congratulations to Her Excellency Dr. Mariyam Shabeena Ahmed on this appointment. UPM Alumni continue to spread the excellence of UPM as a reputable public higher education institution, producing highly competitive graduates.
